I painted this series of works as a whole on a large sheet of canvas paper after returning from the West Coast of Cornwall. Coffee in hand I watched a spring storm in the early morning before the rest of the house was up. I stood outside on the clifftop and really enjoyed the salt air whip my face. At the same time shafts of light were pouring into the bay and lighting up the water. After what at been a challenging year to date there was something about the storm that eased all my tension. It was as if it was been washed away in the swell.
